Accessibility Statement

Last updated

  • We aim for WCAG 2.1 level AA, which covers the Israeli accessibility standard.
  • You never have to swipe: every card has Pass and Love it buttons, and the arrow keys work too.
  • Some screens haven't had a full review yet. If anything gets in your way, email us and we'll fix it.

Our commitment

ChooseIt should work for everyone in the group, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification or other assistive technology.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. That covers Israeli Standard SI 5568, which is based on WCAG 2.0 level AA and is the standard set by the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations.

What we've done

  • Swiping is optional. Every card has Pass and Love it buttons. With a keyboard, the Left arrow key passes and the Right arrow key likes.
  • Keyboard support. We build screens to work with a keyboard alone, with a visible outline showing where you are. Celebration pop-ups close with the Escape key.
  • Screen reader labels. Buttons that show only an icon have a text label for screen readers, and decorative icons are hidden from them.
  • Hebrew content. Names and topics in Hebrew are shown right to left and marked as Hebrew, so screen readers can read them in the right language inside the English interface.
  • Light and dark themes. ChooseIt follows your device’s light or dark setting. Colours in both themes are chosen to meet AA contrast.
  • Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, ChooseIt reduces its animations.
  • Structure and touch targets. Pages use real headings, and buttons are sized to be easy to tap.
  • Automated checks. Our tests check these legal pages with an automated accessibility scanner.

Known limitations

  • We haven’t yet completed a full accessibility review of every screen, including testing with screen readers such as NVDA and VoiceOver. Until we have, some screens may not work as well as they should with assistive technology.
  • The interface is in English only for now.
  • There’s no switch inside ChooseIt for light or dark mode. It follows your device setting.
  • Custom topics are written by the people who create them, so we can’t check how accessible their wording is.

If any of these get in your way, tell us. We’ll offer another way to do what you need while we work on a fix.

Accessibility contact

ChooseIt is run by one person, so there is no appointed accessibility coordinator. Accessibility is handled directly by the operator, Yonathan Wolloch. Email support@chooseit.dev.

Reporting a problem or asking for a fix

If something in ChooseIt isn’t accessible to you, or you need an adjustment, email support@chooseit.dev and include:

  • the page or screen, and what you were trying to do;
  • what went wrong;
  • your device and browser, and any assistive technology you use.

We’ll reply within 7 days. We’ll fix the problem as soon as we can, and no later than 60 days after your request. Until it’s fixed, we’ll offer you another way to get it done.
